A colorful map shows the geolocation of each athlete, showing the internationality of this HOKA ONE ONE Venicemarathon Special Editon. If until last year it was the world that ran in Venice, this year it is the Venicemarathon that runs in the world.

"The response of the first two days of the Venicemarathon Virtual is truly exciting and participation exceeds all expectations - comments the president of Venicemarathon Piero Rosa Salva - we perceive, also from the social channels, a strong attachment to the event and a great desire to share pleasant moments and exciting, that only sport can create".

The provisional ranking to date sees Eddy De Faveri from Treviso with 2h46 'in the lead, in the virtual 42km and in the women's field the French Silvie Querry with 3h28'. In the handbike and Olympic wheelchair category, the French Damine Landini and the Bergamasco Andreaofferedi lead the ranking.

In the race there are also 6 'loyal' who have competed in all 34 past editions, and who want to carry on the tradition. These are their names: Adriano Boldrin 1952 (Campolongo Maggiore), Giuliano Barizza 1948 (Mirano), Albino Dotto 1950 (Conegliano), Paolo Bovo 1956 (Noale), Laudino Mason 1947 (Noale), Valentino Valtorta 1957 (Oggiono).

The Charity Program is dedicated this year to Alex Zanardi, who is testimonial of the solidarity marathon since 2009. Nine NPOs are working to raise funds through generous athletes. Around 17,000 euros have been raised and the most active associations at the moment are the Banca degli Occhi Foundation with 5,918 euros and the AIRC Foundation with 5,875. But the week is still long and the Charity Program will continue its solidarity run even after 1st November. The other associations participating in the initiative are: AIDAP; Africa Mission, Obiettivo 3 by Alex Zanardi, Iside Onlus, Raccontiamo con Francesca, Città della Speranza and Anvolt Onlus Mestre. The disabled athletes competing for Obiettivo 3 are 31 and last Sunday Daniela, the wife of Alex Zanardi, also cycled alongside the athletes Gabriele Scalise and Annalisa Baraldo on a suggestive tour between Padua and the Euganean Hills.

In the meantime, athletes have started posting their videos and photos on social channels, sharing their joy. In addition to the bib, many have downloaded the "virtual cheer kit" including the finish line, to be attached to the gate of the house or between two posts.

Vincenzo Placida ran once again with his daughter Valentina, an 11-year-old girl suffering from a rare disease, pushing her in a wheelchair: "Also this year, even if only virtually, we could not miss "our" Venicemarathon. We did our first marathon in Venice in 2018 and it was unforgettable. This is why the link with this event is special. And so, waiting for a dreaming 2021 edition, we are satisfied with these few kilometers ideally made alongside all our friends of the past editions. Vincenzo and Valentina! "
