Venice, May 28, 2021 - The Venicemarathon returns to its traditional version on Sunday, October 24. After having managed to keep it alive last year through a virtual race and the symbolic race "OneForAll", this year the organizers will bring fans back to run in the presence of art, history and culture, on the extraordinary path that from Stra reaches the heart of Venice, in Riva Sette Martiri.
In addition to the 42K, as usual, the VM10KM will also take place at the same time, which will start from the San Giuliano Park in Mestre and will develop along the last stretch of the marathon, also finishing in Riva Sette Martiri.
Running the 35th Venicemarathon will mean breathing the atmosphere of a special Venice, celebrating the 1600th anniversary of its foundation and which will offer a program full of events and commemorative initiatives.
“We are experiencing this phase of revival of activities with great emotion and, in particular, of the relaunch of running. We continue our organizational commitment with enthusiasm after this difficult period and we thank the institutions and sponsors who have always been close to us. We are sure that this 35th edition will, as always, be an event full of contents, emotions and will contribute to the promotion of our territory”- comments Piero Rosa Salva.
The Winged Lion of San Marco, in a "rampant" version and running shoes, signed by the American artist Milton Glaser will also be the leitmotiv of this 35th edition and will make the t-shirt and medal unique collectible pieces. In fact, Glaser, known all over the world for the famous I Love New York logo, includes the graphic image designed for the Venicemarathon among his latest works.
Venicemarathon will not be just a race but a "marathon for the environment" with the protection and respect of the planet at heart, a "charity marathon" attentive to the social sector that will promote fundraising in favor of non-profit organizations with important national, and a major event that will promote responsible and respectful behavior of the landscape, artistic beauties and identity of Venice and its inhabitants, through the EnjoyRespectVenezia project.
Venicemarathon is part of the Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group World Ranking international circuit and is recognized worldwide as a Bronze Label marathon by the World Athletics and Gold Label by FIDAL.
