Venice, 22 September 2021 - Preparations are underway for the 35th Venicemarathon, an international competition included in the international calendar of World Athletics and in the Abbott World Marathons circuit, which this year returns to be held in attendance on Sunday 24 October from Stra to Riva Sette Martiri in Venice, together with the shortest distance race, the VM10K, which instead will start from the San Giuliano Park in Mestre and will retrace the last stretch of the marathon.

In addition to the traditional and spectacular course rich in art, history and culture, this year the athletes will be welcomed by a Venice celebrating the 1600th anniversary of its foundation. An important anniversary to which the organizers wanted to dedicate the medal of the event, making it a unique and collectible piece. Above the date 'Venice 421-2021', the Winged Lion of San Marco is also depicted in a "rampant" version and in running shoes, created by one of the greatest graphic artists of the contemporary age, the American Milton Glaser, who died last year and that, among his latest works, includes the graphics dedicated to the Venice Marathon.

This year too, Giusy Versace's smile and cheerfulness return to illuminate the Lagoon. For the fourth consecutive year, the Paralympic athlete, writer and now parliamentarian, in addition to playing the role of godmother of the event, joins the fundraising project, the Venicemarathon Charity Program, with the Disabili No Limits, the non-profit organization she founded 10 years ago to promote sporting practice among people with disabilities, through the supply of prostheses and sports aids, currently not provided for by the National Health System. In addition to the Versace association, there are 15 projects and NPOs that make up the Charity Program this year and which, in a few days from the opening of the program, have already raised a total of over 10 thousand euros.

The expectation is therefore growing for this great celebration of running and the promotion of the healthy values of sport that will affect the entire metropolitan area of Venice throughout the month of October. The approach path to the marathon will be marked, as always, by the four non-competitive events of about 4 km reserved for students and families, the Alì Family Run, which will take place on Saturday 2 October in San Donà di Piave, Saturday 9 October in Chioggia , Saturday 16 October in Dolo-Riviera del Brenta and Saturday 23 October in Mestre-Parco San Giuliano.
