Inauguration of the 30th edition of Exposport, the 'Casa dei Runners' of the 35th Confindustria Venezia Venicemarathon & 10K.

Tomorrow is the day of the Alì Family Run in the San Giuliano Park (departure at 10 am) and of the "Mass of the Marathon Runner" (at 5.30 pm) celebrated this year by the patriarch of Venice, Msgr. Francesco Moraglia in the church of San Salvador.

Venice, 22 October 2021 - The 30th Exposport Venicemarathon Village was officially opened this morning with the ribbon cutting by the many local authorities who intervened to welcome the runners.

The gates of Exposport opened to the public at 10 this morning with scrupulous Green Pass control procedures. Many came to collect bibs, race packs and visit the many exhibiting companies in the sports, tourism, wellness and leisure sectors.

Admission is free and the opening hours are: today, Friday 22 October from 10 to 20 and tomorrow, Saturday 23 October, from 9 to 20.

Satisfied for the restart of Exposport Stefano Fornasier, vice president of Venicemarathon and sole director of Idea Venezia, the company that designs and realizes the fair part: “With great satisfaction, today Exposport starts again, celebrating an important milestone. For 30 years we have been organizing what we define as 'the home of the Venicemarathon runners', a guest of the San Giuliano Park for 12 years. On behalf of Venicmerathon, I warmly welcome all the participants of the 35th Confindustria Venezia Venicemarathon & 10k ”. Together with Fornasier, the president of Venicemarathon Piero Rosa Salva and the General Manager Lorenzo Cortesi were present on the stage.

The welcome by the Municipality of Venice was given by the city councilor Matteo Senno: “The Venicemarathon is a source of pride for the entire metropolitan city and on Sunday, with its numerous participants, it will give a real and important signal to restart”. In addition to Senno, the president of the City Council Ermelinda Damiano and the councilor Paola Mar were also present.

The greetings of the governor of Veneto Luca Zaia were brought by the regional councilor Francesco Calzavara: "Venicemarathon has always been an event that we support because it represents a prestigious international showcase of our territory. Also in the name of President Zaia today I thank the organizers who, albeit in a very difficult year, managed to set up this edition, which will give a strong signal to restart, not only from a sporting but also a tourist point of view ".

Representatives of the police were also present at the inauguration. For all, the deputy commissioner of Venice Eugenio Vomiero declared: "We always collaborate with great pleasure in initiatives such as the Venicemarathon because they are an expression of our territory at an international level".

Tomorrow, the day before the 35th Confindustria Venezia Venicemarathon & 10K will be dedicated to sports promotion aimed at young students and families. From the early hours of the morning the San Giuliano Park in Mestre will become the arena of the last stage of the Alì Family Run in Mestre and the green avenues of the park, which on Sunday will applaud the passage of the marathon runners, will welcome a wild crowd of young people who will pour along the 4 km of the route. The meeting is scheduled at 9 am (Blue Gate entrance) and departure at 10 am. There are already more than 2,000 members, but a strong turnout is expected also tomorrow morning. Registrations are still open and you can also register on site at the 1/6 H Sport stand.

As always, much of the proceeds from membership will go to participating schools and to the Alex Zanardi "Obiettivo3" project, created to encourage and support the introduction of disabled athletes to sport.

In addition, Rotary District 2060 has reconfirmed its participation and support again this year, to raise awareness among young people on the importance of the fight against polio globally. The logo of the “End Polio Now” project is in fact present on all the white t-shirts that the participants wore during the races, and information gazebos were present in each competition field.

After the positive experience of 2019, the “Marathon Runner's Mass” will be celebrated again tomorrow at 5.30 pm. This time the liturgy will even be held by His Excellency the Patriarch of Venice Msgr. Francesco Moraglia, together with the parish priest Don Roberto Donadoni and Don Marco Carletto, an athlete registered for Athletica Vaticana (the sports representative of the Holy See), who the following day will be at the start of his fifth Venicemarathon. Mass will be celebrated in the church of San Salvador (San Marco district, not far from the Rialto Bridge).

The agreement with the Veneto Regional Museum Complex was also renewed, which also this year provides free admission to Villa Pisani for all participants, from Thursday 21 October to Tuesday 26 October. The Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, the largest museum center in the city, also renews the agreement by opening its doors to all members and their companions.
