Wizz Air is the new 'title sponsor' of Venicemarathon

The organizers of the Venice Marathon announce a prestigious partnership with Europe's fastest growing airline

Venice, 18 April 2023 - Wizz Air and Venicemarathon announce that the next editions of the Venice Marathon will be entitled 'Wizz Air Venicemarathon', thanks to an agreement that sees the third Italian airline and the most sustainable globally* join one of the most fascinating marathons in the world as "title sponsor".

Venicemarathon then turns pink and welcomes Wizz Air, an international airline which, thanks to its numerous routes connecting Venice to the main capitals of Europe, the Middle East and many other destinations, will contribute to widening the borders of Venicemarathon and internationalize the event even further, contributing to sports tourism that can also become an important resource for the local area.

Today's announcement confirms Wizz Air's commitment to improving people's lives by offering them the opportunity to have new and exciting experiences, and to do so at affordable prices. Low-cost flights and running have a lot in common: they get people moving, bring new experiences and are within everyone's reach.

The presentation to the press was held today in the elegant rooms of Palazzo Vendramin Calergi, which currently houses the Venice Casino, in the presence of the heads of Venicemarathon Piero Rosa Salva, Stefano Fornasier and Lorenzo Cortesi, of Tamara Nikiforova, Corporate Communication Manager of Wizz Air, the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Venice Andrea Tomaello and the delegate of Coni Venezia Massimo Zanotto.

The Wizz Air Venicemarathon will be the first marathon in Italy supported by the airline which is already the main sponsor of several running events in its European base cities, including the Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon, the Wizz Air Debrecen Airport Run, the Wizz Air Cluj -Napoca Marathon, Wizz Air Sofia Marathon, Wizz Air Skopje Marathon, Wizz Air Bucharest International Half Marathon and Wizz Air Hackney Half Marathon.

Wizz Air has been operating within the Venice airport system for 15 years and opened its base at Venice Marco Polo Airport on March 2, 2022, after more than 800,000 people chose to travel with WIZZ at affordable prices last year. Thus, on Sunday 22nd October Venice and the Riviera del Brenta will applaud the passage of the 37th Wizz Air Venicemarathon, which will take place in its three different distances of 42K, 21K and 10K, along the traditional and extraordinary route which will cross the Venetian area full of art, history and culture, to culminate re in the heart of Venice, in Riva Sette Martiri.

The event, due to its spectacularity and uniqueness, is as always a very strong attraction for athletes and enthusiasts from all over the world, who love to run in one of the most beautiful cities of art in the world. To date, there are already more than 6,000 members, of which 30% are foreign athletes.

The 37th Wizz Air Venicemarathon adheres to the #EnjoyRespectVenezia project inviting all participants, and others, to adopt responsible and respectful behaviors towards the city, its inhabitants and the environment.
