Registrations are booming for the international event scheduled for Sunday 22 October in Venice over the three distances: 42K-21K-10K.
15 weeks of training to turn a dream into reality!
Venice, 4th July 2023 - A little more than 100 days from the 37th Wizz Air Venicemarathon 42K-21K-10K on 22nd October, and after the half marathon sold out, the positive trend of entries also continues for the other two distances (42K and 10K) and the goal of 10,000 total subscribers is getting closer and closer. The growth of foreign athletes is also constant, accounting for around 30% of the members.
From dream to reality in just 15 weeks of training!
We are, therefore, 15 weeks to the event: the ideal time to prepare for a marathon for those who are already a little trained. From Monday 10 July, the 'Road to 37^ Wizz Air Venicemarathon 42K' training project will start, conceived by the organizers of the Venice Marathon in collaboration with the former Italian middle-distance runner, Fidal technician and 'Top Athletes Venicemarathon' coordinator Andrea Giocondi who will propose a 15-week preparation, divided into 4 cycles (introductory, extensive, intensive and unloading) and will provide many technical advice. The project will also be enriched by tables related to the sphere of nutrition, hydration and recovery by Dr. Federico Scarso, nutritionist biologist, expert in sports nutrition and nutrition of the ProAction team, Venicemarathon 'nutritional partner'. The training and nutritional tables will all be published on the Venicemarathon social networks every two weeks and will be completely free and accessible to all.
Running, having fun and doing good at the same time
Also this year running the Wizz Air Venicemarathon could also be an opportunity to do good, thanks to the 'Charity Program 2023' which, through the crowdfunding system promoted on the Rete del Dono platform, will allow anyone to be able to support noble charitable projects . There are already several associations, cooperatives and foundations that believe in this important international event with solidarity, by joining the initiative. Among these: Aclicoop (Society Cooperative Onlus), Aido, Piccoli Punti Associations, Africa Mission - Cooperation and Development, AIRC Foundation, Banca degli Occhi del Veneto Foundation onlus, Città della Speranza Foundation, Iside Onlus, Linfa (Let's fight together against neurofibromatosis ), Let's talk with Francesca, Rotary District, 2060 and Uici (Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired) Venice.
Even a business challenge … to do good!
Venicemarathon re-proposes the 'Corporate Cup', i.e. the exciting challenge between companies, but with a new addition this year: points will also be awarded for every euro paid to the Venicemarathon Charity Program. Therefore, each company will be able to enroll an unlimited number of employees and the ranking will be drawn up on the basis of the average speed of the participants both in the 42K, 21K and 10K (expressed in minutes per kilometre) of each company. The company with the lowest average will be awarded 2,000 points, the second 1,900 and 100 points for each position in the standings. 42 points will then be awarded for each registered marathon runner, 21 points for each participant in the 21K, 10 points for each participant in the 10K and 1 point for each euro paid in solidarity. The aim of the initiative is: 'Run for the Cup and do good!'
