Venice, 29 September 2023 - Portogruaro inaugurated the autumn tour of the Alì Family Run this morning, hosting the first of the five sporting events of a promotional and solidarity nature, created by Venicemarathon as a lead-up to the 37th Wizz Air Venicemarathon on 22 October.
From today to October 20th (date of the last stop scheduled at Parco San Giuliano in Mestre) the Alì Family Run will embrace the entire metropolitan area of Venice, involving students and families of all ages and abilities, with the aim of making run over 20,000 people.
The first stage took place this morning on the eastern borders of the province of Venice, immediately achieving great success, also thanks to the beautiful sunny day. 3,500 participants showed up at the Peace Park (Villa Comunale), 1,000 more than last year: a crowd of students, families and enthusiasts who transformed the race into a big party.
In fact, many schools have joined the initiative. Among these: I.S 'Marco Belli', I.S.I.S. 'Gino Luzzato'; "Guglielmo Marconi" Episcopal Institute; I.C. Portogruaro 2 'D.Bertolini'; 'XXV Aprile' State High School; I.C. Portogruaro 1 'G.Pascoli';; I.I.S. 'Leonardo Da Vinci' - Itis Headquarters; I.I.S. 'Leonardo Da Vinci' - Ipsia d'Alessi headquarters.
After singing the Mameli Hymn, at the shot a cheerful and wild stream of young people in blue shirts invaded via Padre Bernardino and then continued along viale Luigi Cadorna, Percorso Del Twinning via Stadio, along the cycle path: via Bono, via Isonzo , via Bertolini, via Russolo, via Valle, via Castion, via Spiga, Borgo San Giovanni, Corso Martiri Della Libertà, vicolo Del Duomo, via Roma, via Garibaldi, via Seminario and, finally, return to the Parco della Pace.
Applauding and encouraging the participants under the starting arch were the prefectural commissioner of Portogruaro Iginio Olita together with the president of Venicemarathon Piero Rosa Salva, the vice president Stefano Fornasier, the general coordinator Lorenzo Cortesi and the president of the Portogruaro Rotary Giancarlo Veronese .
The fastest to the finish line was the student of the 'Marco Belli' Human Sciences High School Ismail Bouak (16 years old), followed by Vincenzo Piccini (32 years old) and Fabio Vianello (28 years old).
In the women's field, 'Marco Belli' took the podium. The student of the Human Sciences High School Silvia Fantinello (17 years old) and Rachele Doretto (16 years old) student of the Linguistics High School arrived first on equal merit. Second place therefore for Giada Bidinotto (15 years old) enrolled in Human Sciences and third place for her peer and classmate Serena Sforzin.
The Alì cup was awarded to the 'Giovanni Pascoli' Comprehensive Institute which, with 846 students, won the top step of the podium in the ranking of the largest school. In second place, the 'Leonardo Da Vinci' Institute of Higher Education with 581 and in third place the 'Marco Belli' State Institute with 563.
Thanks to the collaboration with 'The Human Safety Net', the students of 'Giovanni Pascoli' will have the opportunity to visit (with a companion) the interactive exhibition ''A World of Potential' hosted on the third floor of the Procuratie Vecchie, Home of The Human Safety Net, in Piazza San Marco in Venice. Likewise, all participants will be able to access the same Exhibition via a '2x1' entrance ticket.
The celebration of this morning's stage then continued at the refreshment point with AquaVitamin from San Benedetto, the delicious Palmisano biscuits, the crunchy Pane Morato Pane Chips and many Alì gadgets for everyone.

This first stage, as well as all the other stages of the Alì Family Run, also represent an important moment of solidarity. On the one hand, they raise young people's awareness of the importance of the fight against polio on a global level, through the Rotary2060 "End Polio Now" project clearly visible on all the official t-shirts, this year blue, donated to all participants. On the other hand, raise funds to finance the sports projects of the participating schools and support 'Disabili No Limits', the association founded in 2011 by the paralympic athlete Giusy Versace, to provide prostheses and useful aids to people with disabilities who have desire to get closer to practicing sports.
Tomorrow the Chioggia stage is scheduled, meeting at 9 am and departure at 10 am from Isola dell'Unione; Friday 6 October San Donà di Piave (Piazza Indipendenza); Saturday 14 October Dolo - Riviera del Brenta (Walter sports field Martire) and finally Friday 20 October, the day before the Venicemarathon, in Mestre in the San Giuliano Park.
