Alì Family Run: the Portogruaro and Chioggia stages had 5,500 people running!

This morning 2,000 people, including students and families, gave life to the second stage of the Alì Family Run in Chioggia.
The 'Veronese - Marconi' Higher Institute wins the prize for the largest school with 453 participants.

Venice, 30 September 2023 - After the great success of yesterday's first stage in Portogruaro, which recorded 3,500 attendees, this morning 2,000 students and families showed up in Chioggia to give life to the second round of the Alì Family Run, the autumn tour of sporting events of a promotional and solidarity nature, created by Venicemarathon as a lead-up to the 37th Wizz Air Venicemarathon on 22 October.

Chioggia confirms itself as a much appreciated and popular stop, with families and students of all levels who have transformed the 'Isola dell'Unione' sports field into a cheerful celebration of sport and solidarity.

The event was greeted by the mayor of Chioggia Mauro Armelao who kicked off the race, together with the vice mayor and sports councilor Daniele Tiozzo Brasiola, the president of Venicemarathon Piero Rosa Salva, the general coordinator Lorenzo Cortesi and the Coni trustee Matteo Perini . Furthermore, several young members of the Rotaract Club and members of the Rotary Club of Chioggia were present, led by president Paolo Venerucci.

The departure, as per tradition, was preceded by the notes of the Italian anthem and a very long colorful procession crowded behind the starting arch, and then proceeded along the route that embraced the Lusenzo basin and crossed the historic center of the city.

There were those who ran or those who simply walked, perhaps in the company of their 4-legged friend or stroller. This is the spirit of the Alì Family Run, a cheerful run for people of all ages and abilities.

The fastest was the nineteen-year-old university student Marco Boscolo Moretto, followed by two 'Veronese-Marcini' students Giacomo Marangon (16 years old) and Marco Boscolo Cegion (14 years old).

In the women's field, the student of the 'Veronese' Scientific High School Greta Pagan crossed the finish line first, followed by the thirteen-year-old student of the 'Bruno Maderna' middle school Alice Tiozzo Nietti, who was second at the finish line also last year. On the third step of the podium went Giulia Nonato (17 years old), a tourist accounting student at 'Cestari'.

The prize for the largest school, the Alì cup, was awarded for the fifth consecutive year to the “Veronese – Marconi” Higher Institute with 453 students. Furthermore, the comprehensive schools 'Cestari-Righi' (245 enrolled) and 'Chioggia 5' (203 enrolled) were also awarded.

Thanks to the collaboration with 'The Human Safety Net', the students of 'Veronese - Marconi' will have the opportunity to visit (with a companion) the interactive exhibition ''A World of Potential' hosted on the third floor of the Procuratie Vecchie, House of The Human Safety Net, in Piazza San Marco in Venice. Likewise, all participants will be able to access the same Exhibition via a '2x1' entrance ticket.

The celebration of this morning's stage then continued at the refreshment point, where thanks to the collaboration with the Asd Cavalli Marini sports association, the participants were able to quench their thirst with San Benedetto's AquaVitamin, taste the delicious Palmisano biscuits and the crunchy Pane Morato Pane Chips .

The Alì Family Runs also represent an important moment of solidarity. On the one hand, they raise young people's awareness of the importance of the fight against polio on a global level, through the Rotary2060 "End Polio Now" project clearly visible on all the official t-shirts, this year blue, donated to all participants. On the other hand, raise funds to finance the sports projects of the participating schools and support 'Disabili No Limits', the association founded in 2011 by the paralympic athlete Giusy Versace, to provide prostheses and useful aids to people with disabilities who have desire to get closer to practicing sports.

The next Alì Family Runs are scheduled for Friday 6 October in San Donà di Piave (Piazza Indipendenza); Saturday 14 October Dolo - Riviera del Brenta (Walter Martire sports field) and finally Friday 20 October, the day before the Venicemarathon, in Mestre in the San Giuliano Park.

The Alì Family Runs are events organized by Venicemarathon with the support of the municipal administrations of Portogruaro, Chioggia, San Donà di Piave, Venice, the municipalities of the Brenta Riviera - Stra, Mira, Dolo and Fiesso D'artigianato, and by important companies such as : Alì, Craft, Rotary District 2060, Wizz Air, Banco BPM, AquaVitamin, 1/6H Sport, Dolci Palmisano, Morato Pane, Il Gazzettino, Port System Authority of the Northern Adriatic Sea, ATVO, 3B Meteo.
